Miguel Pérez Iglesia

Head of Asset Management

Prior to joining Renewable Power Capital, Miguel was one of the founding members of Vector Renewables, where he served on the Board of Directors, and had executive positions initially in asset management in Italy and Bulgaria, and later in asset management at a global level. During this period, he was part of the executive team that drove extraordinary growth at the company, increasing the portfolio under management to 3.6 GW in 12 countries. He started his career as an auditor in Deloitte, and afterwards has had other managerial positions in the financial industry (Caixa Galicia, now Abanca), in consulting services (GMS Management Solutions, where he served, among other, as Country Manager in the United States) and in the renewable energy industry (Enfinity Global, where he also served as Head of Asset Management).

What’s your role at RPC?

I am responsible for Asset Management, which means that I lead the team who manages the operational assets owned by RPC Group, both from a technical perspective (generation and performance of the sites, maintenance supervision, technical improvements) and from a financial perspective (energy sales, management and administration of the project companies, etc). My team also provides support, mostly in relation to financial management, to assets under construction and even under development.

What’s a typical working day for you?

My work is normally a combination of recurrent activities (performance analysis, search for improvements, administration, reporting) and spot activities (incidence solving, management of stakeholders). As the number of things which can happen and the number of stakeholders in a project is not small, the work is never monotonous! And team work is fundamental to get things done in the best possible way.

What have you found during your time at RPC?

After many years as a professional service provider in the renewable energy industry, I felt it was the right moment to change to the IPP side. What I have found in RPC confirms I made the right choice. RPC’s potential for growth, team competences, human quality and corporate values are very difficult to find in the market.

What’s your proudest career moment?

Probably when I had to build from scratch the Italian subsidiary in one of my previous companies. When we started, we had no team and no experience in the country. And I hardly knew the language! But with a lot of effort and great team work, we managed to become one of the reference players in the business.

What do you do in your spare time?

I have plenty of hobbies (music, sport, reading, travelling, cooking), but right now I mostly spend my spare time with my wife and kids. Time flies, and soon my kids will become teenagers and will not be so interested to spend time with their dad!

Where’s your favourite place in Europe?

Any place which is on the seaside and is not too crowded. If I have to choose a country, Spain, of course. Spanish landscape, quality of living, entertainment, hospitality and gastronomy are second to none.

What’s your favourite clean technology and why?

All of them. We need them all!
