IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 1000 Monday 3 February – LONDON
Renewable Power Capital (RPC), the pan-European renewables company, today announced the appointment of Sarwjit Sambhi as CEO. Sarwjit, who takes over from Kevin Devlin, will lead RPC as it continues its exciting trajectory of growth.
Sarwjit brings over 25 years of experience in the energy sector, including a number of executive roles across the entire energy value chain, at the FTSE 100 company, Centrica. When at Centrica, Sarwjit held a key role in the growth of the renewable energy portfolio operating in markets relevant for RPC including the UK and the Nordics. For the last 4 years, Sarwjit was CEO for St. Modwen, a Blackstone real estate portfolio company.
His deep expertise in energy coupled with a proven track record of leadership will be instrumental in driving RPC’s mission to accelerate Europe’s transition to a low-carbon future.
Sarwjit Sambhi said “I am delighted to join Renewable Power Capital at such an exciting time for the sector. I look forward to working with the talented team at RPC and partnering with our investor, CPP Investments, to create one of Europe’s leading renewable energy platforms.”
Kevin leaves RPC having guided the business through a transformation from investor to owner-operator and a significant period of both growth and consolidation. A significant milestone for RPC, under Kevin’s leadership, is its largest project to date, the 525MW High Coast wind facility in Sweden commencing construction.
“Over the past couple of years, Kevin has spearheaded the team to deliver our biggest renewables deals to date. I am incredibly grateful for his leadership during such a transformative period for RPC” said Shaun Kingsbury, Chair of RPC. “Looking ahead, I am delighted to welcome Sarwjit in his new role as CEO and for the vision and direction he will bring to RPC as it enters a new stage of growth”.
Kevin Devlin said “It’s been a privilege to serve as RPC’S CEO during such an important period for the organisation and the renewables sector more broadly. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead RPC through a pivotal step change from investor to owner-operator and to oversee the financing and development of projects that will power homes and businesses across Europe while supporting the important transition to clean, affordable energy.”
Sarwjit takes over from Kevin with immediate effect.
