Since mid-February, turbine component transports have been underway for RPC’s wind power projects within the High Coast initiative in Västernorrland – an important step in the installation of the four wind farms that are part of RPC’s project in northern Sweden. In early May, deliveries to the Storhöjden site were completed, and in parallel, intensive preparations are now underway for the assembly of the wind turbines.
“Reaching this major milestone in the project is truly exciting. It has been an intense period preparing the sites for the arrival of the turbine components, particularly the foundation castings. At the same time as we receive the components, we are moving full speed ahead with the preparations before the assembly of the wind turbines can begin,” says Per Meijer, Head of Development Nordics at RPC.
Deliveries to the four parks began in February and will continue throughout the spring and summer. To reduce local impact, tower and blade transport takes place at night, with other components delivered during the day. Components arrive via the ports of Köpmanholmen and Härnösand and are transported to the sites via the E4 and regional roads (335, 331, 774, 718, and 908). Minor traffic disruptions may occur.
These transports mark an important step toward the completion of the onshore wind farms, which are planned to be operational by 2026. With a total capacity of 553.4 MW of renewable electricity, the farms will be able to supply more than 182,000 households with locally produced energy.
